To Make a Friend, You need to be a Friend
The subject line of this entry is a quote from “Lilo and Stitch” the TV Series. I agree with it wholeheartedly. In order to make a friend, you need to b a friend. That means you need to respect one another and be honest with one another as well. You also need to listen to each other and be willing to compromise every once in a while. A good friend does NOT act possessive over the other person or make them feel like they belong to them. A good friend also does not get upset over that friend making other friends. A good friend also tires to help in any situation, but along with that, knows when to back off when necessary. Sure there are exceptions to some of what makes a good friend, but for the most part, this is it. Some people are good at making friends and keeping them for a long time, while some people need some help with it. I have lots of friends who I’ve known for a long time. Crystal is one of them. She and I have been friends now for twelve years and we’re still really close. Samantha S is another person I’ve been best friends with for a very long time. We’ve drifted apart over the past few years, but I know if push came to shove, Sam would be there for me in an instant. In order to keep a friendship going, both sides need to work on it and there needs to be open communication as well.

You can’t shop around for friends, just like you can’t shop around for love. It doesn’t work that way. Friends are one of the many gifts God blesses us with. And it’s one of the most precious gifts He gives us.
