Nickelodeon Show Wonderings
Metai ae! I was just thinking of what my favorite shows on Nickelodeon were before it went down hill. I’m making this entry public because it’ll be more fun that way!

Here’s how it works. I’m gonna list my favorite Nick shows in no particular order and say why I liked them as well as my fave chars if there were any. Most of them will be before Avatar, so it’ll give you an idea of which ones I’m talking about.

The Wild Thornberrys-I LOVE this one because it’s exciting, full of family values and it saved my geo grade! I’m not kidding! My fave chars were Eliza, Nigel, Darwin, the Masai tribe and Tyler Tucker.

Gullah Gullah Island-This one is special to me because it helped me realize that not all families were as messed up as mine. It gave me hope that there were good families out there. And I love the music in it! My fave chars were Shaina, Natalie and Vanessa.

Allegra’s Window-This one was just plain cute. It was the only puppet show that didn’t freak me out as a kid. As for my fave chars, they were Allegra, Miss Melody, Riff and Reed. I also liked Lindi as well.

Rocket Power-This one was just plain awesome! I loved that it was set in Hawaii and I LOVED Tito! I also loved the concept of Ohana they brought into it as well!

The Secret World of Alex Mack-I love this show because it’s cool and really awesome! I started watching it when it first premiered and I was pulled in from the very beginning! I love Alex, Annie, Ray, Nicole and Oscar the chimp!

Are You Afraid of the Dark?-This one was just plain awesome and a lot of fun to watch! I especially liked watching it in the dark during thunderstorms! I loved Kieki’s stories as well as Samantha’s, Gary’s, Eric’s and Betty Ann’s.

Hey Dude-This one was cool too! I enjoyed watching it because I love horses! Melody was my favorite character on it!

Salute Your Shorts-This one was good too. I love any show about summer camp!

Doug-This one was cool too. I liked Doug, Skeeter and Patti.

...Actually, Rocket Power was set in California...:-P. But that's okay, lol! Now that you say that, though, I wonder if there was an episode set in Hawaii...there might have been.

Lol, I guess Darwin wasn't the first star chimp in Nickelodeon!

I think they had a movie set in Hawaii, where their dad meets up with his high school girlfriend, or something along those lines. They had a movie about the wedding, which only aired once. I remember thsi really well because I missed it, and I was so mad.

I watched all the other ones, though. I was a rocket power FANATIC. My entire third grade class was in the unofficial "Rocket Power Club" and my best friend was Reggie and I was Cleo, who i think was related to Twister?

I can't believe I remember so much about it.

If you wanna watch it...you can download episodes online. Go to http://www.classicnickshows.info/ and then register. Once you're signed up, go down to "Nickelodeon Uploads" under "Downloads" and you'll be able to download and watch Rocket Power episodes!

Hey,

I'm afraid my brother would only watch weird scary shows on that channel, so I wasnt' too fond of it. I'd watch the ones you like as we have a lot in common, so I'm sure I'd like them too though.

I loved Are you afraid of the dark, Secret world of Alex Mack, and Doug. Doug just because Billy West did so many voices in that one. I've always loved Are you Afraid of the Dark because it goes along with my love for scary stories. haha! As to why I liked Secret World... Well, uh, because... Because... I kinda had a crush on Lirisa when I was a kid. haha! The storyline was terrific too.

Oh, I loved Roundhouse, David the Gnome, Eureka's Castle, Rugrats, Pete & Pete, Clarissa, What would You Do, Double Dare, Guts, Wild and Crazy Kids, Legends of the Hidden Temple, Angry Beavers, Rocko's Modern Life, Hey Arnold, Ren & Stimpy... Just to list the ones that you didn't mention.

HATED Roket Power, though. Ugh, what a God-awful show, with the out of date slang appearing all over the screen every thirty seconds. Most irritating. It got on my NERVES. It tried too hard. It really did.

But for the most part old Nick was pretty much the greatest thing ever. I personally think Rocket Power marked the start of the massive decline, though. I mean, early Spongebob and Fairly Oddparents came after that and were good, and of course Avatar, but it seemed to me that Rocket Power really just started the trend of most things on Nick being more bad than good.

i loved Rocket Power as a kid, in fact I still do. My friend named her dog Reggie after the character.
I also really liked Taina and Caitlyn's way. They weren't cartoons, and they were a little melodramatic, but I loved the musical aspect of Taina and Caitlyn's adjustment to a family that loved her.
I'm sure I had so many more favorite shows (like the ORIGINAL Doug!!! I loved that!!), but I can't recall all of them.

I loved how she created all this friction within her family, but at the end of the day they still cared about her.
That show pretty much made me want to live in Montana haha.

I love the ones everybody else already said: Rocket Power, Doug, What Would You Do, Angry Beavers, Rocko's Modern Life, etc. THEY WERE SO GOOD! I miss the old days of nick.

A few more I loved that weren't mentioned: Ahh! Real Monsters, All That, Kenan and Kel, Brothers Garcia, The Amanda Show, Animaniacs, My Brother and Me, KABLAM!, Nick Arcade, Inspector Gadget, You're On!, 100 Deeds for Eddie McDowd, Cousin Skeeter, CatDog, and the Busy World of Richard Scary.
